Debate
I did Lincoln-Douglas debate very actively in high school. I'm not really involved any more, but I've made some of my work available here. If you're not familiar with the activity, these materials will probably seem like nonsense to you, but feel free to take a look if you're interested.
I made an effort to avoid posting material written by old teammates or other debaters, so you probably needn't worry about people getting upset if you decide to use anything here.
Some of these materials contain references to specific topics, but all of them can be applied to a range of topics with minor modifications if any.
- Theory File — 17 pages of generic theory blocks.
- Critique of Analytic Philosophy — A very long critique I wrote in my senior year, with lots of bells and whistles. It was mostly inspired by Bruce Wilshire's Fashionable Nihilism, a favorite book of mine.
- Speed K — A fun, strategic implementation of the speed K. It's become a tough case to win since everyone and his cousin has massive blocks, but this version makes it easy to breeze through the counters using the spikes and weighing analysis built into the case. That version is meant to be read in the NC; for a 1AR version, see this.
- A2 Speed K — Some general answers to the speed K. Part of it is adapted from the widespread policy file, but I got rid of many points that I thought were especially ludicrous and added several that I think are somewhat more defensible.
- Cause and Effect K — A pretty standard cause & effect critique.
- Irony — An irony AC. I wrote it for the corporations topic, but the underview (which is ~half of the case) is very generic. Also includes frontlines. Another irony AC is here.
- Normativity AC — My version of the normativity K.
- A2 Open Source K — Some answers to the critique which argues that debate materials should be open-source. A bit ironic for me to be posting this, I know!
- A2 God Cases — Some answers to theistic cases.
